is a place where people can leave public messages, for example, to advertise things to buy or sell, announce events, or provide information.

What is a bulletin board system called nowadays?

is a computer system running software that allows users to connect and log in to the system using a terminal program. Once logged in, a user can perform functions such as uploading and downloading software and data, reading news and bulletins, and exchanging messages with other users, either through electronic mail or in public message boards.

The word USB stands for Universal Serial Bus. This device works as a link between the computer and a peripheral. USB can connect computer peripherals such as mouse, keyboard, monitor, gamepads, scanners, printers, and many other devices. We use USB´s in many occassions such as when we want to store info in other computers or when we connect preipherals thorugh a USB. This is just a little summary of what a USB is and what´s its work as a link between computer and peripherals and as storage devices.

The USB 1.0 specification was introduced in 1996. It was intended to replace the multitude of connectors at the back of PCs, as well as to simplify software configuration of communication devices. The original USB 1.0 specification had a data transfer rate of 12 Mbit/s.

USB was created by a core group of companies that consisted of Compaq, Digital, IBM, Intel, Northern Telecom, and Microsoft. Intel produced the UHCI host controller and open software stack; Microsoft produced a USB software stack for Windows and co-authored the OHCI host controller specification with National Semiconductor and Compaq; Philips produced early USB-Audio; and TI produced the most widely used hub chips. One of the co-inventors of the USB was Ajay Bhatt, who was later given credit in an Intel television ad.

The USB 2.0 specification was released in April 2000 and was standardized by the USB-IF at the end of 2001. Hewlett-Packard, Intel, Lucent Technologies (now Alcatel-Lucent following its merger with Alcatel in 2006), Microsoft, NEC, and Philips jointly led the initiative to develop a higher data transfer rate than the 1.0 specification (480 Mbit/s vs 12 Mbit/s).

The USB 3.0 specification was released on November 12, 2008 by the USB 3.0 Promoter Group. Its maximum transfer rate is up to 10 times faster than the USB 2.0 release. It has been dubbed the SuperSpeed USB. Equipment conforming to any version of the standard will also work with version 3.0 conforming equipment in most cases -— USB 3.0 standard connectors have introduced some incompatibilities with devices designed to any previous specification, though at the maximum speed of the prior equipment, not 3.0. There is thus substantial backward compatibility.

AS MANY OTHER THINGS, USB´S HAVE THEIR OWN CLASSES HERE IS A CHART OF THEM:

USB´S ARE NOT ONLY LINKS BETWEEN COMPUTERS AND ITS PERIPHERALS THEY AREE ALSO MASS STORAGE DEVICES

USB implements connections to storage devices using a set of standards called the USB mass storage device class (referred to as MSC or UMS). This was initially intended for traditional magnetic and optical drives, but has been extended to support a wide variety of devices, particularly flash drives. This generality is because many systems can be controlled with the familiar idiom of file manipulation within directories (the process of making a novel device look like a familiar device is also known as extension).

THERE ARE DIFFERENT TYPES OF SIGNALING IN USB´S SUCH AS:

Low speed rate of 1.5 Mbit/s

Full speed rate of 12 Mbit/s (the basic 1.1 USB ports signal)

Hi-speed rate of 480 Mbit/s(the USB 2.0 signaling)

Super speed rate of 5.0 Gbit/s(the USB 3.0 signaling)

This is the basic information you should know about USB´S I hope you´ve enjoyed it and thanks for reading!!
